Organizational TIPS

 TRAITS OF AN ORGANIZED BUSINESS: 
  1. Hard copy files of information are scanned and organized by folder categories.
  2. Electronic files should mirror hard copy files.
  3. All information should be backed up daily with secondary copies placed in secure location (safe, safety deposit box)
  4. Vital information with personal or company data should always be shredded.
  5. Emergency and Exit strategies should be written, rehearsed and in place.
  6. Access codes and passwords should be protected and easily accessible.
TRAITS OF AN ORGANIZED HOME:
  1. Lack of clutter because everything has a place.    YEAR OLD MAGAZINES ARE TOSSED | OLD BOOKS DONATED | EXPIRED PRODUCTS (FOOD/MEDICINES) ARE THROWN AWAY | FIRST AID KITS ARE IN THE KITCHEN AND ACCESSIBLE | CREATE A STATION OR PLACE FOR FILE BOX FOR MAIL, BILLS OR PAPERWORK | VIDEOS ARE STORED NEAR THE VCR | TOYS ARE CATEGORIZED INTO BINS AND CONTAINERS | KEY RACK FOR KEYS | SHOE RACK FOR SHOES | CLEANING SUPPLIES IN CONTAINERS | PEG RACK FOR JACKETS, BACKPACKS, BROOMS
  2. Refrigerator, Freezer and Pantry are stocked and organized.  OPENED JARS ARE DATED | OLD FOOD DISCARDED
  3. Beds are Made.
  4. Clean Laundry is Put Away.  DIRTY LAUNDRY IS PLACED IN A DIVIDED HAMPER (WHITES, COLORED, DELICATES)
  5. Lists are Prepared.  FAMILY HAS DAILY SYSTEM PICKING UP/ PUTTING AWAY ITEMS | GROCERY LIST POSTED NEAR REFRIGERATOR | PLANNED MENU FOR THE WEEK | USE CALENDAR REMINDER SYSTEM TO UPDATE BILLS TO PAY, CELEBRATIONS AND EVENTS UPDATED | COLOR CODED BY PERSON
TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR JUNK DRAWER:
Everybody's got one - the inevitable junk drawer.  What would you do without this catch-all container of matches, batteries, nails, stamps, and safety pins . . . You don't have to live without it - just get these odds and ends better organized.
  1. Remove the drawer and empty contents.
  2. Throw out true junk:  unidentified keys, expired coupons, dead pens, etc.
  3. Group items into "LIKE" items.
  4. Put items that belong somewhere else away.
  5. Buy divider containers which can easily fit into the drawer.
  6. TRY TO RESTRICT YOURSELF TO ONE JUNK DRAWER!
